Crafted in 14 karat yellow gold (585) with a rhodium-plated crown – a classic diamond cluster ring from the late 1970s to early 1990s. The design featuring 27 small brilliant-cut diamonds in a three-dimensionally structured crown was a style that was extremely popular during this period, especially in the German-speaking and Dutch-speaking regions – worn as an alternative to the classic solitaire and often given as an engagement or anniversary ring.
Who might have worn it
We received this ring from our partner in Bavaria – but no one knows where it was before that. This is exactly the kind of mystery we love:
Perhaps a woman in her early 80s in Munich or Zurich, who for her 30th birthday or silver wedding anniversary wanted not a single solitaire, but many small sparks – worn with a cocktail dress, a blouse with shoulder pads, or a little black dress. The cluster was then the epitome of discreet wealth: not loud, not showy, but unmistakable.
