HISTORICAL CLASSIFICATION
Crafted in 14 carat yellow gold (585) with a German master's mark – a classic "Toi et Moi" ring ("You and I"), one of the oldest and most romantic ring traditions in European jewelry history.
This style became famous through Napoleon Bonaparte's engagement ring for Josephine in 1796 – at that time, a diamond and a sapphire side by side, symbolizing two souls that have found each other. Later, the Toi et Moi became the iconic shape also for Jackie Kennedy's engagement ring from 1953.
The flowing, organically curved band of this piece and the clean construction suggest a modern interpretation from the 1980s to early 2000s – the renaissance of the Toi et Moi style, which finally became the current engagement trend with Meghan Markle's engagement ring in 2018 and Ariana Grande's Toi et Moi ring in 2020. Two brilliant-cut diamonds, two paths that meet – not a solitaire, but a dialogue.
Who might have worn it
Imagine… We received this ring from our partner in Bavaria. We don't know exactly where it originally came from – but we love to imagine its story:
Perhaps an engagement ring from the late 80s or 90s – for a woman who couldn't settle for the classic solitaire, but wanted something that told the story of her relationship: two people, two personalities, two life paths that intertwine. Worn on the ring finger as a daily reminder of the most important encounter.
Or a gift from a woman to herself – a "Toi et Moi" as a pact with her own self: the person I was, and the person I want to become.
